Phoenix ship wooden model. Phoenix plus

All week I have been exploring forums, websites and conferences dedicated to prefabricated modeling. My wife and I could not decide - to continue to collect plastic models of ships or switch to wooden ones?

What are plastic models good for? All parts are made in the final form, there are not very many of them, a simple and understandable assembly algorithm. We assembled our first ship last fall - it was Jack Sparrow's Black Pearl. Ah, sorry, Captain Jack Sparrow.

It took almost a month to assemble it. As it turned out later, it was the most complex model of the existing plastic models of sailing ships mass-produced in the WORLD.

We thought about moving to a tree. But there are many downsides. If plastic models are relatively budgetary - from 500 rubles to 4000 rubles, then decent wooden ones start at 5000 rubles. And that's just the base set. There is nothing to think about to assemble a wooden ship without a special tool. To the assembly kit, you must also purchase such items as:

Carnation (such a thing that allows you to hammer small carnations into a toooooooo tree;

Miniature brace with a set of drills;

Sander;

Special knife with a set of interchangeable blades;

Set of tweezers;

A set of tools (pliers, hammer, wire cutters, a set of skins)

Machine for weaving threads;

Machine for bending wooden parts of the boards

And if you buy this whole set of tools, then it's another 20 thousand rubles.

After long negotiations through diplomatic channels, the decision was made. We bought the "Phoenix Brigantine" assembly kit for 7,000 rubles and a couple of thousand tools, without which there is absolutely no way: a set of knives, a nail gun, a set of tweezers. And you can bend a tree for a couple.

Here's how it all looked at the very beginning:

The black thing under the sheets with a round knob is the nail.

And we started collecting.

The very first plug turned out as soon as we checked the completeness of the sheets for cutting out the parts. In our set there was no sheet with frames. Instead of this sheet, there was a sheet from some boat in the set.

We are lucky that the manufacturer is in Moscow. After an angry letter at ten o'clock in the morning, the director called me back and we agreed to meet in Moscow the next day. We met in the subway, exchanged sheets and everyone was satisfied. Director, I was pleased that I did not bring down on her those heavenly punishments that I threatened in the letter, that the replacement did not take a month. My wife and I also joked that when buying a model, we asked the seller if the assembly of the model would take a month. And we were told that this is the minimum. So we joked that the first month is only an exchange of details.

But the build has begun.

The very first phrase from the assembly instructions plunged us into a slight shock (I want to draw the attention of readers to the fact that the model is intended for assembly from the age of 10 years): "Glue the upper keel frame and frames into the main plate. Glue the central counter-timbers as shown in Fig. 1. Next, glue the counter-timbers, remembering to remove the bevel from them." Ah, everything is clear.

After some debate and trial we started.

In order not to get confused, my wife and I numbered every detail.

Here is what I hold with my fingers - this is just a frame.

So the little one is removed.

Lots of very small parts, okay, the knife is sharp.

The first day we assemble the hull frame.

In length, this case is a little more than half a meter.

It was not possible to cope with the nail gun the first time

The work uses ordinary PVA glue.

Yes, it's hard to assemble a ship model from wood.

Every few days I will post the process of our work and tell you what we do and how.

Maybe you decide to do this difficult thing.

And may the force be with you!

Set contents

The main features of the "Phoenix Brigantine" model kit:

Rejection of metal cannon ports. Ports are only wooden, according to the manufacturer's own technology, using precise laser cutting and engraving; - laser cutting of each board and details - laser-cut line for processing the edge of the frames - only type-setting boats; - body design - self-correcting the curvature of the plywood set; - double hull cladding. Primary sheathing - lime plywood 1.6 mm thick, secondary - veneer 0.6 mm of various valuable wood species. Full laser cutting of primary and secondary skins.

Note:

The elimination of inconsistency in the shades of the secondary skin veneer is achieved by cutting the veneer from large sheets. For one set, the veneer is cut from one large sheet and only in the right amount; - spiers, windlasses, rooster grills, mars, etc., only type-setting, wooden, using laser cutting and engraving; - nasal figures and decor - brass casting.

Brass cast guns of excellent quality were made by Master Korabel according to Russian archival drawings on a scale of 1:72.

Mandatory in the set is the presence of material (percale) and patterns for sails; - hybrid documentation, drawings, assembly diagrams and color photo instructions (sometimes the assembly diagram in the form of a picture is more visual than the photo in the photo instruction). A certain part of the parts and materials, the best in terms of quality, are purchased from imported manufacturers.

You are presented with a model for assembling a beautiful sailing ship. Brigantine is a wonderful ship with its own history. The fact is that, in essence, a brigantine is a two-masted barque - a sailing vessel with straight sails. But since the direct purpose of the ship is the transportation of goods, the two-masted barges were a little unsuitable for their intended purpose.

And then in favor of this ship, chance intervened. Due to its lightness and maneuverability, the ship was chosen by pirates, who practiced very successfully from the 16th to the 19th from the Mediterranean Sea to Pacific Ocean. And the ship got its own name - a brigantine from the Italian brigante - a robber, a pirate.

The model after assembly has a length of 45 cm. The level of complexity above the average will help you to understand the structure of sailing ships in more detail. And thanks to the history of the legendary sailing ship, you will join the really rich history great navigators and pioneers.

Complete set and characteristics:

  • set of parts for assembly of 1 model
  • length 45 cm
  • detailed deck with superstructures
  • lifeboats, anchor and other elements
