Skyscraper 'Shanghai Tower' - - a dozen records, but only the second highest. Shanghai Tower - a symbol of China's prosperity What is the name of the Chinese multi-storey tower

The Shanghai Tower is the newest skyscraper in the Chinese metropolis. This is not only the tallest building in Shanghai, but also the tallest tower in all of China, and indeed the third tallest building in the world. For many years, the 632-meter tower has become the dominant of the main Shanghai view -.

During a trip to China, I went up to the observation deck in this tower to look at Shanghai from a height of 550 meters. However, the weather in the city is not a simple matter, and once again I experienced the peculiarities of Shanghai smog...

1. In terms of height, the Shanghai Tower (632m) is second only to the Burj Khalifa in Dubai (830m), and the Tokyo Skytree in Japan (634m - there is only a two-meter gap here!) building in the world.

2. The skyscraper was completed in 2015, and gradually opened throughout 2016. It is adjacent to two other ultra-tall buildings in Shanghai: Jinmao (left) and the World Financial Center, popularly known as the "opener" (middle).

3. These three skyscrapers, as well as the Oriental Pearl TV tower, make up the main view of Shanghai, its visiting card. In the evening, all these buildings are illuminated by bright lights, and reflected in the waters of the Huangpu River - do not be surprised if this is the most photographed frame in all of China.

4. My history with the Shanghai Tower began back in 2013 when I first visited China. Then, having arrived at the end of the trip to Shanghai, I saw a huge skyscraper, still under construction, standing next to two already impressive skyscrapers.

5. The unfinished tower looked very imposing, and a little ominous, especially in the late afternoon. The irregularly silhouetted structure looked like something out of Star Wars, a kind of powerful fortress of some space villain.

If you remember in next year a video made a lot of noise, where two Russian-speaking roofers penetrate the tower under construction, and on foot climb to the very top, and then into the boom of a construction crane. Here is the video (be careful, I got a little dizzy from watching!):

6. Then, when I arrived in Shanghai at the beginning of 2016, the tower was already completed, but unfortunately, the authorities did not manage to open it before my arrival. But I never managed to photograph it properly: the peak was hidden among thick clouds.

7. I saw how the workers were bringing the last details of the building before the opening, but unfortunately they were not allowed inside then. The tower officially opened later in 2016.

And now, a couple of years later, I finally got the chance to go upstairs, on the observation deck (after all, where is such a noble skyscraper without an observation deck ?!)

8. My hotel and office were in a nearby opener (...Spoiler alert: the commute to work wasn't as short as I expected.) Turns out the opener and the Shanghai Tower are connected by a futuristic underpass. When I saw him, at first I was afraid that someone would come and kick me out of this beautiful space. But then it turned out that this is just an ordinary passage through which people from a nearby metro station get to the main skyscraper of the city.

9. Although it was possible to pass through such a transition, in order to buy tickets to the observation point, you need to go outside to a specially equipped ticket office. The base ticket price for adults is 180 yuan (that's about $26). In addition, you can buy a ticket to the 25th floor (more on that later)

10. Almost all the observation decks of the main skyscrapers of the world make the visitor first go down the escalator. Near the entrance to the observation deck, the mascots of the event are sitting, two bears of a very intelligent appearance.

11. The canon of the genre: before going upstairs, the visitor must pass through the framework of a metal detector, and then he enters a mini-museum of the construction of this and other skyscrapers in the world. Here the tourist can learn various facts about the Shanghai Tower through various multimedia installations.

12. Other tower-brothers are also presented. For example, .

But about Tokyo Skytree, they decided to keep silent. Well, in the end, what is a two-meter difference? ..

14. But in one of the corners with talisman bears, St. Basil's Cathedral is painted, which is identified abroad with all of Russia. I don't quite understand what he's up to...

15. I go to the elevator...

16. And then I find out that this is not just an elevator, but the fastest elevator in the world, which runs at a speed of up to 20 meters / second. Near its doors there is even a letter from the Guinness Book of Records. Here is the luck!

17. Of course, inside the cabin there is a screen showing the speed. Unfortunately, I was not able to record the maximum speed of this elevator. Stupidly didn't make it.

18. And here I am at the top. This is the 118th floor, 546 meters above the ground. There aren't many people on the lookout right now...

19. And those who are, stand at the side, and try to see and photograph something.

20. It turns out they are not very good, since the view from the window is now like this:

21. The entire landscape is hidden by the famous Shanghai smog. You can barely see through it
the outlines of the nearest buildings, but in general nothing is visible. You can consider that I was unlucky with air quality, although in my experience, about 30% of the days in Shanghai are like that.

22. Next to the panoramic windows there is a mocking display showing what the picture could have been like if I arrived on another day. In fact, it's hard for me to imagine clear sky over Shanghai.

23. The only thing that shows through this gray veil is the neighboring skyscrapers. Here is Jinmao (built in 1998, height - 421 meters):

24. Next to it is the World Financial Center (2008, 494 meters):

25. Few visitors line up along the windows, trying to find a normal shot. No wonder they spent money on a ticket here. There must be at least one good photo!

26. Basically this photo is a shot of the "opener" outside the window. She hasn't fully merged with the mist yet.

27. One of the most popular entertainment tall skyscrapers- attraction "transparent floor". Since there is nowhere to do this in the Shanghai Tower, the designers inserted special touch monitors in one place into the floor, which begin to crack if you stand on them.

28. Soon pieces of the building fall off and the visitor is invited to stand on a glass surface at a height of 450+ meters and experience what it would be like to float above the ground at the same height. However, the picture quality leaves much to be desired.

29. Visitors to the tower look with curiosity at the fake floor with holes.

30. You can climb the stairs to the 119th floor.

31. Here the height is 552 meters. I remind you that the height of the observation deck in Burj Khalifa is 555m, only three meters higher. The network writes that the Shanghai Tower also has an observation tower on the 121st floor, and its height is 561 meters, that is. But at the time of my visit, they were not allowed in - it seems that it has not yet been opened since the completion of the tower.

32. There is a souvenir shop on the lookout. Here you can buy all sorts of uninteresting trinkets made in the image and likeness of the tower.

33. Who needs a pillow with a colorful view of the whole Pudong? .. Inexpensive! (Although possibly expensive, I haven't looked at it.)

34. If you bought a postcard in a souvenir, then you can send it right here - there is a mailbox on the observation deck. Just do not forget the stamp (you can also buy it in the souvenir shop).

35. Since this is still China, here. In the lobby of the observation room there is a charger for phones, and in general for everything electrical.

36. And here I saw a collection - I used to come across such only in Japan!

37. For some reason, an artificial tree was built here, which visitors decorate with hearts. The trunk and branches are made of papier-mâché, while the leaves are all plastic. The tree stands on a green "lawn" of photo wallpapers.

38. But next to it is a bench with real greenery. They can, when they want.

39. You can sit here and wait for the air to clear a bit (I actually left and came back the other evening).

40. When the smog is not as thick, there is a good view around the bend of the Huangpu River, including the old buildings of the early 20th century on the far bank. In the evening twilight, the colorful lights of Shanghai are lit.

41. Two neighboring skyscrapers are also clearly visible, and below the city streets turn into rivers of warm light.

42. On the far shore are numerous gaudy skyscrapers of Chinese architecture. Here it is for you, Sim City...

43. For an additional fee, the visitor can go up to the 125th floor. There is no view from there (there are no windows in this room), but there is something else interesting here.

44. A huge multi-ton load is suspended here, which stabilizes the Shanghai Tower from fluctuations in the wind and in the event of an earthquake. This cargo is made in the form of curving petals, and it is not very visible from the 125th floor. But this is the highest place where you can climb with ordinary tickets (you have to pay extra at the box office from the very beginning.)

45. They say there are private tours (they cost over $100) that take tourists to the 126th floor to see this thing in all its glory. I was not there, so I show you a photo from the network:

This is such an interesting skyscraper. Don't miss it when you're in Shanghai - you can visit it.

The highest tower in the sky

Completed in 2015, the Shanghai Tower is the embodiment of the growth and prosperity of modern China. The building is located in the Pudong district in the heart of Shanghai and towers over two other skyscrapers - the Qin Mao Tower and the building of the Shanghai International Financial Center. The building height of the Shanghai Tower is 632 meters. The concept of the tower is not so much a new approach to the construction of high-rise buildings, but an awareness of the new urban idea of the vertical development of cities.

The main architectural idea of the building

In shape, the Shanghai Tower resembles a slightly twisted pyramid with rounded edges and a longitudinal seam - a rib smoothly curled from the base to the top of the tower. The angle of rotation of the rib is 120 degrees. This shape of the building and the angle of rotation allow for a 25% reduction in the impact of wind load. The enclosing structures of the building are two-layered: the inner contour separates the premises of various functional purposes from the "open space" or atrium within the building, and the outer contour is the outer shell and encloses the atrium itself and the building as a whole.

The Shanghai Tower consists of 9 separate zones, or buildings - cylinders stacked on top of each other and fixed on a core of monolithic reinforced concrete. Each zone unites 12-15 floors with an external atrium and is a separate community, in fact, a “city within a city”. Each city has its own infrastructure, public places and separate energy supply.

The Shanghai Tower is recognized as the "greenest" skyscraper on the planet. On the upper floors of the building there are 27 wind turbines that supply the building. The skyscraper's two-layer shell provides excellent insulation from the outside environment and is a powerful energy saving factor.

Structural design of the Shanghai Tower

The constructive height of the Shanghai Tower is 580 meters. The supporting frame consists of a reinforced concrete monolithic core, four pairs

reinforced concrete super-columns and four diagonal columns connected by double horizontal belts of metal trusses. The core is connected to the columns using outrigger trusses.

The shells of the building are made on outriggers fixed in the core of knowledge. Calculation of building structures is performed by the finite element method. To test the effects of various loads, both computer simulation and full-scale tests of building models at a scale of 1:500 on a vibrating platform and in a wind tunnel were used.

The use of monolith in the construction of the Shanghai Tower

The foundation of the skyscraper is bored piles with a reinforced concrete monolithic slab grillage. A foundation pit up to 34 meters deep was developed for the foundation. For the first time in the world, bored piles were used for a building with a height of more than 400 meters in the conditions of occurrence in the foundation soils of silty sands of various sizes and soft clays.

  • The thickness of the grillage is up to 6 meters.
  • Pile length up to 56 meters.
  • Pile diameter 1 meter
  • Estimated bearing capacity of one pile 10000 kN,
  • The number of piles is about 950 pcs.

The adjustment of the pile driving force, the use of a C50 class concrete mixture, and a specially developed concrete injection technique made it possible to obtain, according to the test results, the actual bearing capacity of the pile up to 26,000 kN.

Reinforced concrete grillage was carried out by the method of continuous concreting for 60 hours. The total volume of concrete in the grillage was 61,000 m3. The success of creating a plate of such dimensions consisted in the use of a scientifically developed high-strength, plastic,

crack-resistant, self-compacting concrete mix and the continuous labor of hundreds of Chinese workers.

The central core of the Shanghai Banshee comes from the base and consists of four central monolithic cores and 9 cells measuring 10x10 meters, it has a square shape in plan. The overall size of the core is 30x30 meters, the thickness of the walls of monolithic reinforced concrete in the lower part of the building is 1.2 m. The thickness of the reinforced concrete walls in the upper part is 0.5 meters. Concrete class C60/70. To pour the monolithic walls of the core, a special modular sliding platform with hydraulic drive and a system of formwork scaffolding was developed.

The ceilings of the building are made of monolithic reinforced concrete in a fixed formwork made of profiled sheet. The thickness of the floors varies from 155 - 220 mm. The ceiling diameter is 82.8 m at the bottom of the building and 46 m at the top.

Symbol of a nation with limitless possibilities

In the process of designing and implementing the project, a team of professionals effectively solved many of the most complex structural problems, both in relation to the construction site and in matters of interaction between numerous project participants. The height of the Shanghai Tower was eventually 632 m. Many innovative architectural and technical solutions, in which the Shanghai Tower is a pioneer, will undoubtedly leave a bright mark on the history of construction.

According to the Chinese government, the Shanghai Tower is a symbol of a nation with limitless possibilities.

I have already told you about the two skyscrapers in this picture. Here is the Shanghai World Financial Center, and here is Jin Mao. But now we'll talk about this twisted highest of the three.

The construction of the 121-story Shanghai Tower in China, which began in 2008, was completed earlier this year, and finishing work is now underway.

Here's how the construction went:

The Shanghai Tower is an ultra-tall building, currently the tallest in the Chinese city of Shanghai, in the Pudong district. After the tower is completed, this building should become the tallest building in China, surpassing in height even such buildings as the Jin Mao Tower and the Shanghai World Financial Center. According to the project, the height of the building will be about 650 meters, and the total area will be 380,000 m². The construction of the tower should be completed in 2014. When completed, the tower building will be the third tallest building in the world, behind only the Burj Khalifa in the UAE, whose height is 828 meters, and the Tree of Heaven in Tokyo, which is 634 meters high. In August 2013, the tower building was completed to roof level.

According to Fang Qingqiang, chief engineer of the project, the Shanghai Tower will house offices, shops, a five-star hotel, exhibition and conference halls, as well as recreation and entertainment areas.

With the completion of the construction of the main structures of the building, work began to attract businessmen to the development of this complex, said Gu Jianping, president of the Shanghai Tower developer company. The new building will help meet the strong demand for comfortable and luxurious office space, he said, while Shanghai is actively developing into an international financial center and free trade zone.

A skyscraper designed by the large American company Gensler. The spiral-curved tower, even at its unfinished 580-meter form, is already actually the tallest building in China, surpassing the previous record holder, the 492-meter high-rise of the World Trade Center located next door.

However, even after commissioning next year, the Shanghai Tower will not long take the lead in the race of Chinese skyscrapers: in 2016, it is planned to complete the construction of the 660-meter Pingan International Financial Center in Shenzhen. In addition, the construction of the Sky City Tower in Changsha, 838 meters high, has recently begun, but a few days later, due to the lack of necessary permits, it was frozen.

AT last years construction of skyscrapers on an unprecedented scale has unfolded throughout China. According to the Council on Tall Buildings and the Urban Environment, headquartered in Chicago, China will have six of the ten tallest buildings in the world by 2020.

When completed in 2014, the spiral megastructure, along with the neighboring Jin Mao Tower and the Shanghai World Financial Center Tower, will complete the grand ensemble of three skyscrapers.

Shanghai Tower nominated for LEED Gold certification. The Shanghai Tower is built from nine cylinders stacked one on top of the other. The inner volume forms the building itself, while the outer façade creates a shell that rises up, rotating 120 degrees and giving the Shanghai Tower a curved appearance. The space between the two layers of the façade is created by nine sky garden atriums.

Just like in many other towers, the atrium of the Shanghai Tower traditionally houses restaurants, cafes and shops surrounded by lush landscaping in tandem with a large number of entrances to the tower and subway stations under the building. The interior of the Shanghai Tower and the transparent exterior skins create a visual connection between the interior of the tower and the urban fabric of Shanghai.

The tower will have the fastest elevators in the world, specially designed for it by Mitsubishi using innovative technologies. The double-height elevator cabins will carry the building's occupants and visitors skyward at 40 mph (17.88 m/s). The façade's cone, texture, and asymmetry work together to reduce the building's wind load by 24 percent. This will save building materials in the amount of $58 million USD.

Transparent inner and outer shells of the building bring inside the premises maximum amount natural light, thereby saving on electricity.

The outer shell of the tower insulates the building, reducing energy consumption for heating and cooling. The tower's spiral parapet collects rainwater, which is used to heat the tower and the air conditioning system. Wind turbines located directly under the parapet generate power on site for the upper floors of the building.

The Shanghai Tower is one of the highest (in the literal sense) symbols of China's heyday. This is a real beacon in the world of economic growth and cultural prosperity.

More recently, in historical terms, China was not the most advanced, ordinary agrarian country. But in recent decades, he has taken not seven-mile, but rather seven-hundred-mile steps in his development. The Chinese economy today is perhaps the locomotive of the development of the entire planet. Numerous skyscrapers have become symbols of the country's rapid growth.

In particular, in Shanghai, the second largest city in China, there is an area in which three giant spiers are located almost “two steps away” from each other. This is the Jin Mao Tower (translated as "Golden Prosperity") with a height of 421 meters. The Shanghai World Financial Center is 492 meters high (sometimes called the “opener” for its appearance). And finally, the crown of the Chinese triad - a skyscraper 632 meters high - the Shanghai Tower. It is about her that we will now tell.

It is the tallest building in the country and the third tallest in the world. So far, the famous needle Burj Khalifa in the United Arab Emirates (828 meters high) remains the leader in this nomination. And quite a bit did not reach the Shanghai Tower to the honorable second place, it is occupied by the "Heavenly Tree" in the capital of Japan, Tokyo (634 meters in height).

Shanghai Tower on the map

  • Geographic coordinates (31.235391, 121.501402)
  • The distance from the capital of China, Beijing, is approximately 1100 km.
  • The nearest airport is Shanghai Pudong about 30 km to the southeast (the airport is located in the eastern part of the city)

All three skyscrapers are a complete ultra-modern composition, symbolizing the power, progress and prosperity of the city in particular, and the country as a whole. The chief architect of the project, Jun Xia, said that with the construction of the Shanghai Tower, the composition of the three skyscrapers will serve as a stunning representation of China's past, present and limitless future.

With all due respect to the other two skyscrapers, we note that the Shanghai Tower looks the most harmonious and graceful, and rises significantly above its brothers (well, or sisters).

From left to right: Shanghai Tower, Jin Mao and the Shanghai World Financial Center. In the background you can see the East Pearl TV tower.

Shanghai Tower in numbers

  • Height - 632 meters
  • Number of floors - 127
  • Number of underground levels - 5
  • The total area of the premises of all floors above the ground is 410,000 m2
  • The total area of the underground part of the building is 164,000 m2
  • The tower can accommodate up to 16,000 people daily
  • The lower levels have parking for 1950 cars
  • Base area 30370 m2

Construction and design of the Shanghai Tower

The decision to build was made back in 1993, but it was not until November 29, 2008 that the groundbreaking ceremony took place, after the tower had passed environmental impact studies.

To strengthen the ground, the engineers first installed 980 foundation piles into the ground to a depth of 86 meters and then poured 61,000 cubic meters of concrete to set the foundation at 6 meters thick.

During the construction of the foundation in March 2010, 450 concrete mixers were involved, so this volume of concrete was poured in just 63 hours. This is a record for the speed of building a foundation of this size.

The main frame of the building was completed on August 3, 2013. The exterior decoration was completed in the summer of 2015, and the entire construction process was completed in September 2015. The official opening of the Shanghai Tower was originally scheduled for November 2014, but the actual date has shifted considerably. The opening of the skyscraper took place on February 18, 2015.

The first viewing platforms were opened to visitors in July 2016. The period from July to September 2016 is considered the so-called "dry run" or "commissioning". From April 26, 2017, access to the open observation deck on the 118th floor is allowed.

The tower has a unique balanced design. In fact, it consists of a central building and an outer shell surrounding it. The Shanghai Tower was designed by American architectural firm Gensler with Chinese architect Jun Xia leading the design team.

Structurally, the Tower consists of nine cylindrical buildings stacked on top of each other. The whole building is surrounded inner layer glass facade. between him and outer layer there are nine interior zones that provide an interesting space for visitors. Its width ranges from 90 cm to 10 meters.

Each of these nine areas has its own atrium with gardens, cafes, restaurants, retail space and panoramic city views.

Both facade layers are transparent. This solution was a unique design feature as most buildings have only one façade using highly reflective glass to reduce heat absorption, but the Shanghai Tower's double layer of glass eliminates the need for reflective cladding. It took 20,589 glass panels to cover the outside of the building.

Why was the Shanghai Tower twirled?

A distinctive novelty of the Shanghai Tower was its "twisted" facade. You must have noticed this. The outer part of the structure twists as the height increases, eventually turning out to be twisted by 120 o. So, this design not only gives the building an amazing and fantastic look, but also performs a number of functions.

  • Firstly, this is a uniform distribution of the load created by the wind, and even a decrease in it by 24%. In terms of sustainability, the Shanghai Tower occupies a leading position in the world
  • Secondly, the number (and, accordingly, the weight) of steel structures decreased by a quarter, which made it possible to save about $58 million on this.
  • Thirdly, the use of a round facade made it possible to reduce the number of glass panels by 14% (that is, the facing of a square building of the same area would require more of these panels)

Shanghai Tower as a symbol of environmental safety

At the time of construction, the Shanghai Tower was recognized as the "greenest" skyscraper, that is, a building that causes practically no harm. environment. Modern materials, innovations and technologies have made the skyscraper the most environmentally friendly building (at least at the time of its construction). To create an optimal climate inside the building, alternative energy sources are used. The skyscraper has even been awarded the greenest LEED Platinum rating.

Engineers placed 200 wind turbines on top of the tower (these are the world's tallest turbines located in a building). They generate about 10% of the electricity consumed by the entire building.

The skyscraper collects rainwater and reuses wastewater, has a combined cooling and heating system, and uses 43 different energy-saving measures. These measures, according to the calculations of the designers, annually reduce emissions carbon dioxide by 34,000 tons, and also reduce energy consumption by 21%.

Plus, between the inner and outer cladding there is a "green space", presented in the form of 24 so-called "heavenly gardens". Such oases among glass and concrete. Although they are small, they are very pleasing to the eye.

Additional features of the tower

At the top of the building on the 125th floor there is an Inertial Damper (aka Harmonic Absorber) to reduce the swaying of the skyscraper. At the time of construction, this device was the largest in the world, its weight was 1000 tons.

In September 2011, Mitsubishi Electric Corp. won the tender for the construction of the Shanghai Tower elevator system. The company installed 149 lifting mechanisms in the building. Of these, 108 elevators, including 3 high-speed, capable of moving at a speed of 64.8 kilometers per hour (this is 1080 meters per minute or 18 meters per second). The maximum speed of these elevators is 20.5 meters per second. This is a confident first place in the nomination "the maximum speed ever achieved by a passenger elevator installed in a functioning building." And here the Shanghai Tower bypassed the Burj Khalifa.

The building also broke the record for the tallest passenger elevator in the world. Here, the elevator is able to reach a height of 578.5 meters, again breaking the record recorded at the Burj Khalifa (where the elevator could only reach 504 meters).

A small clarification - the elevator cannot rise to an infinite height, do not forget about the weight of its cable.

shanghai tower inside view

This is a huge complex that includes retail space, offices, entertainment and educational centers. Restaurants and cafes, exhibition and conference halls.

And, of course, breathtaking observation decks, the highest of which is located on the 118th floor, 546 meters from the ground. Access to this site is paid, children 90 yuan, adults 180 yuan. Opening hours from 9:00 to 21:00.

Visiting this observation deck is a must. It offers absolutely incredible views of the city, especially in the evening. Panoramic glazing creates the illusion of absolute flight. It happens that the clouds cover the entire city below, and then the feeling of flying is greatly enhanced.

How to get there

  • Subway: You need line No2 of the local subway. Get off at Lujiazui Station (use Exit 4). Half a kilometer to the Tower
  • Bus: If you take bus No583, you need to get off at the intersection of Huayuan Shiqiao and Middle Yincheng Roads, and then walk to the tower. If by bus No791, No961, then get off at the crossroads of Lujiazui Circle and Dongtai, then walk again
  • Ferry: Take the Dongjin Line or Dongfu ferry and get off at Dongchang Road.
Considering the size of this attraction, you definitely won't get lost.
  1. In February 2014, Russian Vadim Makhorov and Ukrainian Vitaly Raskalov from the Ontheroofs team climbed the unfinished Shanghai Tower and made their way to the crane at its very top. They posted videos and photos of their adventure from the top of the tower online. Naturally, no one gave the guys permission to pass and shoot. Their YouTube video has been viewed by over 65 million people. You can also check out these desperate guys in the video below.
  2. In early 2012, cracks appeared on the roads near the construction site of the Shanghai Tower. The builders were accused of subsidence, but this was likely caused by excessive extraction of groundwater in the Shanghai area, and not by the weight of the tower itself.
  3. It was originally planned to make the cladding of the building of pale green glass. But then the whole building would merge with the surrounding landscape, so we settled on transparent glazing
  4. In 2016, the height of the Shanghai Tower was planned to be surpassed by the Pingan International Financial Center under construction in the city of Shenzhen. As a result, for technical reasons, its height did not exceed 599 meters.
  5. The cost of building the tower is estimated by various sources at between 2.4 and 4.5 billion US dollars.
  6. Recall the records of the Shanghai Tower
The most "highly installed" wind turbines in the building
    The highest and fastest elevator
    The greenest skyscraper
Record in the speed of pouring the foundation of large sizes
  7. According to the project, a 258-room J-Hotel was to be located from floors 84 to 110. It was supposed to be the tallest (from the surface of the earth) hotel in the world. But there is no evidence that he did appear. If you have such information, please let us know.
  8. It is noteworthy that the developers did not experiment with the name and called the attraction simply Shanghai Tower (which simply means “Shanghai Tower” in translation).
  9. The elevator that takes visitors from the ground floor to the observation deck on the 118th floor makes this journey in about 55 seconds.

This is their photo again.

The Shanghai Tower is an architectural monument that has earned the attention of travelers from all over the world. The design is recognized as the highest building on the planet. This is the pride and symbol of China, every tourist dreams of seeing the miracle of construction.

Shanghai Tower was erected in the Chinese city of Shanghai.

The close location of the attraction to the airport makes the building attractive for tourists. There are other, no less interesting structures around the skyscraper.

This is the business center of China, with significant architectural and cultural sites.

A visit to the city will be accompanied by educational excursions, concerning not only the well-known remarkable place.

Construction history

Shanghai Tower was not built overnight. Ideas about the construction of the symbol of China arose at the end of the last century. But it was not until 2008 that the idea was put into practice.

First of all, work was carried out to study the soil on which it was planned to install the structure. It took 2 years to strengthen the land. The workers had to pour the foundation to a depth of 6 meters.

Part of the tower (frame) was completed only in the summer of 2013, finishing was completed 2 years later.

The opening was scheduled for February 2015. But visitors were able to fully examine it only in 2017.

Records and interesting facts
